Dorothy A. Lewis, MA, CFP®

As owner and founder of Financial Insights, Dorothy has played an essential role in the firm since its inception in 1981. Her passion to help clients realize and implement their dreams has been a driving force in the firm’s success.

Dorothy strives to develop deep and long-term client relationships. As a result, many of the firm’s clients who years ago sought Dorothy’s financial counsel and asset management experience remain clients to this day.

A former high school teacher and college educator, Dorothy is committed to educating her clients in the financial arena. She takes great pride in assisting them to more clearly see their financial picture. She takes a realistic and disciplined approach by telling clients what they might already know, what they have not thought of and even what they might not want to hear. Her teaching experience has helped her become adept in effectively communicating and simplifying complex concepts.

Dorothy’s experience as an investment professional is far-reaching. As a Certified Financial Planner and a Registered Investment Adviser Agent, she has advised clients nationwide and abroad. Her proficiency in personal finance and insightfulness in developing innovative financial strategies have helped clients successfully manage major life changes and financial challenges.

Dorothy is an avid reader and researcher. Newspapers, magazines, international newscasts and general news publications aid in the continuous research of investment options, political views and the world’s economy. She strives to analyze, understand and convey how the global picture will impact her clients. Dorothy’s education, constant research, travels and unique personal experiences have equipped her to be a critical and forward thinker, enabling her to provide organized and in-depth solutions.

Dorothy is a strong advocate for women and children, education, combating hunger and world development. She is an active participant and sponsor of charitable events and many of her travels have been devoted to global causes, such as immunizing children in Ethiopia and funding clean water endeavors. In 2000, Dorothy took a yearlong sabbatical to bicycle around the world with the Odyssey 2000 group in order to raise money for the Emergency Food Network. She also has served on numerous boards for nonprofit organizations.

Dorothy received her Certified Financial Planner® designation in 1983. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound and a master’s degree from the University of Washington.
